It's simple and awesome and long lasting, it looks much more natural than anything else I've tried, and it's just all around fantastic! I can't believe I've never heard of this trick before! It only takes an additional 5 seconds or so, and it will save you money and make your foundation last TWICE as long!
SERIOUSLY, stay tuned because this trick is out of this world!
See for yourself, after the jump!
Mix your liquid foundation 50/50 with moisturizer!
I learned it from, I believe, the Daily Mail of all nasty places. [I read it for the pictures, I'll have you know, most definitely not the articles!] There was an article about Kate Mosses makeup artist, and she mentioned this trick.
I've tried it, and I cannot tell you how happy I've been with the result. In fact, I've been much more likely to use makeup now that I've found this trick! I use a pore-concealing primer first. Then I mix, as close to 50/50 as I can eyeball, my elf concealer in the closest color to my face, with whatever moisturizer I have around. At the moment, it's a Proactiv oil-free moisturizer, because it's around and it's fragrance-free. Then I apply the stuff all over my face, and voila! All-day concealer that I can't even feel, that doesn't transfer to everything I touch, and that really does the job! I don't even use a powder over it, it looks that natural.
Because Kate Moss has flawless skin even though she drinks and drugs and smokes and stays up all night, the lucky bitch, she doesn't need a full face of concealer to hide the blemishes and spots and patches of discoloration that she totally should have given her lifestyle, the lucky bitch. So her artist uses 50/50 concealer and moisturizes on the "problem" areas that Kate actually does suffer, and on areas that she wants to highlight or contour. She doesn't put it all over the face because she wants Kate's natural freckles to show, so she only puts it under the eyes and possibly below the cheekbones to contour.
Mixing your foundation with moisturizer doesn't reduce the effectiveness or longevity of a good (or just thick) concealer, and it gives the skin a dewy-ish, glowy-ish effect and still does what concealer is meant to do.
Though the artist says this is one of her go-to techniques with the lucky bitch Miz Moss, here are the photos where we can know this trick was used:
And closer shots of that face:
The rest of the technique here as I can recall it - I absolutely can NOT find that article now! so maybe it didnt come from the Mail at all, which means I probably didn't have to tell the world [well the ONE of you who reads this lol, sad] that I read the fucking Mail - is the concealer trick, then just a bit of eyeshadow. She takes a medium/caramel brown loose powder and dollops it onto the middle of the eyelid right on the lash line. Then she takes the blending brush and smooths it back and forth all across the lid to distribute the powder. Fill in the brows with a medium brown pencil, apply a full regimen of lips with liner, stick, and a matte-ening something I can't remember, and dab a small amount of powder bronzer under the cheekbone. A swipe of mascara, and she's ready to be photographed, the lucky bitch.
Photoshop works wonders, of course, but if that shit's true then I love her AND hate her even more for it.
